Ultra-Violet (UV) Thin Sections

Porosity in extremely tight formations is not normally visible in thin section. By making a thin section with fluorescent epoxy, and viewing it under UV light, the porosity becomes much easier to recognize, quantify, and photograph.

GR Petrology has a Zeiss UV microscope for examining UV thin sections.
