Petrographic Thin Section Analysis

Thin section petrography is the foundation of interpretive Reservoir Quality Analysis. Statistics gathered during thin section analysis of whole core samples and drill cutting samples allow assessment of key factors including:

Rock fabric, composition and texture
Type, volume and distribution of grains, cements and clays
Grain size
Porosity, pore types and distribution
Paragenesis, diagenetic history and reservoir development
Cutoffs for reservoir quality assessment
